Tip #1 The most important tasks
It’s so easy to leave some important tasks for later. Later may never happen. Putting off tasks can get someone into trouble and unnecessary stress. Or worse, you can miss out on life’s significance if you keep delaying what should be your priority.
For example, you need to develop or grow your gifting so you can use it to make a difference.
Determine what are the most important tasks that you need to do and by when.
Sometimes, the way to know this answer is to have some planning done ahead of time. Once you have things planned, you will sort through and prioritize in the order of importance and significance.
Urgent tasks will come up to compete with your most important tasks. However, you will need to go for what is more significant. Once you have all your tasks in front of you, prioritize them. Ensure your priorities are in line with God’s will. Remember, there are tasks that are great that you will need to drop.
You just can’t do them all, it’s that simple. That’s why the essence of getting things done is the ability to attend to your priority.
Live with a sense of urgency regarding your priorities.
Tip #2 Goals
Have a list of goals for you to choose from.
A goal is a task with a date of deadline. For example, I will read 1 non-fiction book by the end of each month. That’s a simple goal.
Set goals for your life, for your home; work-related ones whether you work from home, have a job or your own business. A goal imposes a deadline on the task. Some people are better off with deadlines. It helps them organize themselves. They know what to do and by when. Some work better under pressure.
Too many tasks to do without goals can be confusing. How do you know where to start and when you get to where you need to be?
Tip #3 Work on yourself
We all have weaknesses. Yet, there is a way to form new habits and improve ourselves.
Set your mind on what you want to achieve. Why I want to achieve this goal? This question, ask it when you’re setting your goals. Once you have set your goal and you know this is what you want and need to do, place your goals in front of your eyes.
Some people use a board to display their goals and plans. Others use only calendars. Others use a to-do-list.
If you are visual, have them all. Planning takes time. However, by the time you complete your planning process, it wins you part of the victory.
Placing everything on a board in your office or home office, will do wonders for you. It helps you to think through things and to set your mind on the goals.
Develop the new habit to defeat procrastination. If procrastination is your weak spot, turn it into your sweet spots.
